# 7.0 Initial Token Distribution

PRIME launched in July 2022, as a non-transferrable token. It was 'unlocked', via [community vote](https://docs.echelon.io/echelon-prime-foundation/4.0-governance/4.1-governance-proposals/proposal-voting), on March 1, 2023. Three sources contributed to initial distributions.\
